Carnegie Library

Fife's biggest and busiest library is situated in the historic part of Dunfermline, next to the Abbey and Abbot House.

Opened in 1883, it was the first of 2811 free public libraries that were funded by Andrew Carnegie across the world.

Affectionately labelled the Patron Saint of Libraries, Carnegie’s mottowas “let there be light”.

An automatic door and lift is available via the entrance on St. Margaret's Street.
