Robert The Bruce To "Tuck In" At Farmers Market (09/07/13)

Lovers of fine food flocking to the monthly Fife Farmers Market in Dunfermline will be in for a royal feast this July 13th in honor of ‘Robert the Bruce’.

The mighty king has announced a guest appearance at the weekend food event to raise awareness of the forthcoming Bruce Festival which takes place 24th & 25th August in Pittencrieff Park.

Showcasing the best of Fife produce, exhibitors will be laying on a medieval flavour to the market in the hope of courting favour from both the royal visitor and shoppers alike.

Organised by the BID company, Dunfermline Delivers, with support from Fife Council and The Alfred Stewart Property Foundation, The Bruce Festival is a major event attracting in excess of 15,000 people over the two days.

Sir Robert’s plan is that by attending the Farmers’ Market, he can break bread with more potential revelers with a view to making the 2013 Festival the biggest celebration yet.

Commenting on the appearance, Maggie Mitchell, Chief Executive of Dunfermline Delivers said: “Independent research has revealed that satisfaction levels of those who attended last year’s event are very high. We know therefore that it is a very enjoyable weekend and we are hoping that Robert the Bruce can encourage more to attend and experience this incredible event set against the stunning background of the abbey. With even more activities going on in Dunfermline High Street this year we expect that the Bruce Festival will be ‘the place to be’ that weekend. “

The Farmers market will take place on July 13th from 9am- 1pm at the Glen Gates on Bridge Street.
